City SC’s latest installment of Coach Education earlier this week featured guest presenters from the UK, Mike Phelan and David Horrocks. The interactive classroom and field session focused on topics such as match analysis, coaching philosophy, and game/player management. Mike is one of the most decorated and successful soccer coaches in the world. Phelan’s mind is a wealth of experience, information, and practical delivery unique to world football.
About Mike Phelan –
Former Manchester United player, coach, and twice assistant manager with multiple FA Premier League titles, FA Cups, Football League Cups, a European Cup, a Winners Cup, a UEFA Champions League, and a World Club Champions title to his name.
Mike was assistant manager to arguably the greatest manager of all time Sir Alex Ferguson in the most successful period in Manchester United’s history. His experience is unprecedented in dealing with some of the world’s leading players such as Beckham, Ronaldo, Rashford, Sancho, Rooney, Ferdinand, Scholes, Neville, Cavani, and Fernandes among others.
About David Horrocks –
Horrocks also worked for Manchester United as their Head of Research and Development and has spent extended periods as a psychologist and performance director in European, South African and USPA tour golf. David has travelled the globe in search of excellence in the fields of science, psychology, technology, coaching practice, and elite business operations. He is a published and peer reviewed scientist in the fields of talent development, elite performance, and serial winning.
His recent works have seen him collaborate with the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, The FA, The FA Premier League, Mercedes AMG Petronas, British Cycling, Reb Bull, London School of Contemporary Dance, The Professional Golfers Association, Ineos, Milwaukee Bucks and leading military and government personnel to name a few.
